
Welcome to Dhayalan Group (OMC)

Our OMC group's research focuses on the “Total Synthesis of Natural Products and Active Drug Molecules” using organo- and metal-catalysts for biomedical applications and agricultural development. In this line of research, small ligand and substrate libraries bearing substituents that could be systematically varied, e.g., steric and electronic perturbations, were created and studied to construct mathematical models. Using these models, it was possible to predict the optimal substituents for certain asymmetric regio- and chemo-selective reactions.
A second major research interest is the design and novel synthesis of air- and water-stable organometallic reagents, their functionalization, and the preparation of bioactive heterocycles for medicinal applications. Late-stage modification of biologically active organic compounds using modern organometallic reagents and TMP-M bases.

Ms. Jyashree and Ms. Savita from ICT-IOC Bhubaneswar have received the Best Research Awards (3rd year PhD, 2025–2026), which the OMC group is celebrating. More than ten research papers were published during the PhD study.
